The Harness That Buys You Time

The Harness That Buys You Time

Most people freeze up when their pet is attacked by a predator. The fight-or-flight response is very real — and in those critical seconds, having the right protection can make all the difference.

Years ago, a friend shared a story that still sends chills down my spine. A woman was walking her chihuahua near UBC. The sun was shining, passerby were smiling, and other dogs were happily trotting along with their owners. Then, out of nowhere, an eagle swooped down, its talons clamping around the tiny dog.

Eagles are incredibly strong — many can pick up and carry a small dog, especially those weighing under 10 pounds. In this case, the woman, terrified but determined, held the leash tight and pulled back, screaming and fighting for her pet. The eagle finally let go, but not every story ends so luckily.

Predators like eagles, coyotes, and even large owls often target small dogs. That’s why a spiked harness can be such a game-changer. When time is crucial, it acts as both a physical deterrent and a layer of protection, giving owners a fighting chance to save their pet.

Here’s a video of one very lucky dog, Coco, who somehow managed to escape what could have been a tragic end. Watching it is a sobering reminder that attacks can happen in an instant — and being prepared matters.
